[CALIBK12] CSLA membership suspension

Thanks DeAnn for pointing out the elephant in the room. Although there are several reasons for withholding your membership from CSLA, ("What elephant?") your vision is most likely the reason for the demise of CSLA by September, 2009. I have asked for a financial statement of the organization from our president and have yet to receive a reply. Perhaps we should insist it be posted on this site for the benefit of all the members. I have a hunch all this restructuring and the "hostile take over" is most likely because of the trend in layoffs and retirees in our profession. When you add the current budget crisis, you have the perfect storm for the demise of the organization. 

I hate to be glum in these end times for California, but we may need to change the name to Classroom School Library Association. I hope I am wrong. In the meantime, be watching for your letter that CSLA is being absorbed by ALA to make us a much stronger organization. (all rumor at this time of course)
