[CALIBK12] Budget cuts and letters

I know this conversation is in regards to our state leaders, but I just checked with an aide to a congresswoman (my son). He says politicians should be responding to both e-mails and snail mail. However letters sent to Washington, D.C. are delayed for a few days for radiation treatment. He suggests you go directly to your elected official's website for sending e-mail, but he did add that there are so many messages it does take awhile to respond.
Now for a bit of good news: Congresswoman Matsui is signing onto the SKILLs Act.

Don't forget the fax; it costs them money so the probability of them reading it is high!

Excellent suggestion. Many of our lawmakers are creating alternative email addresses that they spend more time on than the official ones, mostly a result of mass email messages being sent by groups that just add names. And they believe, in many cases correctly, that a snail mail message was more thought out than an email. But don't stop the emails if that is the only way you'll get it done:)

I am on our district's Teachers Advisory Council. We meet with the superintendent and discuss issues that are not covered in the contract. We heard that many emails to our representatives in government positions are not being counted. We were advised to write via snail mail and we would be heard. I can only pass along what I heard, but I have a lot of confidence in the sources.
