Experienced math teachers less common in low-income schoolsWealthier
U.S. children are more likely to be taught by certified, experienced
math teachers than those from poor families, according to a University
of Missouri study, which examined eighth-graders in particular. When
students are not taught by highly qualified teachers, their opportunity
