Advanced Placement test-taking numbers up, scores downWhile nearly 15%
of the 2007 graduating public high-school class in the U.S. took an
Advanced Placement exam -- a 25% increase over the past four years --
the proportion of exams that received an acceptable score dipped from
about 60% to 57%, according to the College Board, which administers the
tests. While that makes the fourth-straight year that scores have
fallen, there are school leaders who say the added participation is
