Please don't toss them!  After you decide not to store them any longer,
offer them to one or more of your departments.   Sometimes you can decide
which department  (English, social studies, science, etc) would best
appreciate a specific issue by the cover's feature article.  Even the art
department benefits by using the beautiful photos as excellent drawing
models.  Perhaps a specific teacher has an interest in a particular topic
that may be covered that month.  Assign your library  students to look at
the table of contents and sort them out for you for distributuion, and turn
it into a learning session for them.

How many previous years of periodicals to you keep in your school libraries?
 Do you keep more of National Geographic than other titles?
 
No one actually uses ours and we are running out of storage space, but it
seems un-librarianish to toss them!
