Hi, folks.
Happy new year to everyone on the list.
Here is a message I recently received from the program chair of the IASL
Conference to be held in Berkeley this summer.
As I said in my original message about the conference, this is great
opportunity for California library practitioners to show what we've been
doing here in the Golden State. Despite our poor funding and minimal support
for libraries we have been doing a lot (How to run a great library program
with little money!?). It would be neat, for example, now that our Standards
are available online for all the world to share, to have a panel of local
librarians showing how we've put the Standards into practice. And the
Research Forum is a great opportunity for us to show what we've been
researching in our state on library and information science topics of all
kinds.
Now is the time.

Dear colleagues,
We are excited about the submissions we have received so far for the 37th
annual IASL conference at the University of California Berkeley, 3-6 August
2008. The theme for our conference is "World Class Learning and Literacy
through School Libraries."
To accommodate the greatest number of submissions, the call for proposals
has been extended to 1 February 2008. The programme committee is pleased to
accept proposals for four types of presentations: professional papers,
workshops, poster sessions, and Research Forum presentations.
All proposals are double-blind peer reviewed and published in the conference
proceedings furnished to each participant and available after the
conference.
