Yo ho ho! My favorite is Pirates!: The True and Remarkable Adventures of Minerva Sharpe and Nancy Kington, Female Pirates by Celia Rees. A young girl in 18th century Jamaica is to be married off to an evil man, so she and her maid escape and become pirates instead! This is one of my favorite "chicks with swords" books-very empowering to young women feeling "stuck" in what life has handed them. (You'll love it, too...) --Darla

Subject: [CALIBK12] Pirate fiction - Middle School
Hi everyone,
I am looking for pirate fiction for middle schoolers, hopefully something
from the era of Sir Francis Drake. Any suggestions will be greatly
appreciated.
