[CALIBK12] Benefits of Reading in L1

Anyone have handy stats on the benefits of reading in a student's first
language? The foreign Language dept would like to encourage kids to read in
their first language as well as English and are looking for stats that show
that type of reading also enhanced English skills even though they are
reading in another language.

Thanks for your help. BTW, I did my SSR presentation today and it went
great! I'll try to post my ppt on my website today for you to see/steal.
