[CALIBK12] Target: Definition of a school library in California

Linda,
I don't know what the Ed Code says about school libraries, but I think of school libraries in California as "Cinderella." School libraries are the neglected and abused "step-sister" of education. Studies show that a strong library program will improve reading test scores (and I suspect scores in science and social studies as well.) Cinderella could cook dinner, wash the dishes, mop the floor and sweep out the hearth and still be the "Belle of the Ball." If only we could get the "Prince" to look at the "Glass Slippers" and see the "Jewel."

Does anyone know what the definition of a school library is for California? I'd appreciate it if there is an ed code section that could be cited.
