Yesterday we lost a library leader. After bravely battling cancer for over four years, Rae Alford passed away.  Many of you won't know her by name, but anyone who has ever ordered from Follett Library Resources has been touched by her incredible knowledge of books and curriculum.  Rae was the collections manager at FLR for at least the last eight years.   She was instrumental in the creation and management of FLR's Titlewise; had the final say so on book selection for large and/or opening day orders and was involved with numerous other projects.

Rae had been a middle school and a high school librarian before joining FLR.   She understood that school collections needed quality books that supported the state curricula and had a reading level that correlated to the interest level. She constantly pressed publishers to publish excellent and interesting non-fiction titles that met these criteria.    Rae believed that providing quality materials to all school libraries was the most important part of a job that she truly loved.    This belief and dedication improved library collections throughout the country.  We will miss her........
