@nnie,

Having returned to teaching English during the Richmond bankruptcy, I know
the feeling of leaving one's library for a real change of professional
life. To say that I was nervous welcoming 7th and 8th graders to my
English class doesn't begin to describe my anxiety about how I would
manage. However, I did discover real advantages to having a plan every day
that I knew would not be derailed by the principal needing my room for a
class without a sub, and that there would be a fairly predictable group of
students in the same desks every day. I bonded with those kids, so that
when I did get back into a library at a high school many of my 8th graders
attended, they were my "extra-special" students all the way through
graduation.

I do know that your students will be lucky to have a teacher who is
gifted, energetic, passionate about teaching and able to use humor to get
a point across. The loss to your district's library program is balanced by
your prospective students' gain.

I wish you all the best and hope to stay in touch.

Ellie
