Librarians, please promote these courses (or similar ones) to local
Chambers of Commerce, high school guidance counselors, hospital
professional development managers, the Small Business Administration --
you know who to contact. The more ways/times that specialized library
research courses are offered, the more valued/visible the basic library
research courses and information literacy instruction. School
information literacy instruction is a basic platform or building block
for the advanced research skills needed in higher education.

The College of San Mateo offers college credit for research courses for
business, law, healthcare, and other courses of study. One of the
less-obvious but critical challenges is getting these kinds of courses
positioned or cross-referenced as business, law, heathcare discipline
courses. So, the more publicity for library courses as subject-specific
courses, the better! Hope I've stated the issue clearly. :)

Library courses need to be listed under headings other than only library
and promoted to employers. Employers want workers who have online
research skills. Small business owners and entrepreneurs often go back
to school in order to learn how to grow their business -- this course on
Law and Business Research is just right for them!

Best wishes.
- Jackie
