[CALIBK12] Statistics on cataloging/processing

Hi everyone,
I need to know:
1) how many books per linear foot fit on a shelf (hardbacks)
2) some kind of statistics on how long it takes to catalog a book: attach barcode, spine label + other labels PLUS copy catalog - possibly items that will not come up in my MARC database (older titles) - a high percentage of the books. I use libraryworld.net and can import MARC records from other library databases or take them from the MARC database that comes with the program. I have never had to do such massive cataloging - it has always been cataloging as you have time (it's a private school library and I do everything, including teaching).
I am asked to catalog appr. 1200 to 1800 books from an estate and people think that since I have a barcode scanner, it should take no time at all - just scan the isbn :)
A reference to an "official" source would be highly appreciated. Anecdotal evidence will work, too.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the information I get on this forum.
