[CALIBK12] CSLA voting "heads up"

Hi Rusty and all,
Unfortunately, once a ballot is cast there is no option for reinstatement. There is a security reason. Here's what happens. When you submit your password, two things occur. First a brand new blank ballot is created and second, your password is disabled. Even if you don't vote for anyone there's now a new ballot in the electronic ballot box. And even if I, as the system administrator, chose to rummage through the ballot box while the election is in progress (which I do not do) I wouldn't know which ballot was yours to discard or revise so that you could start over. And, by the way, the process of rummaging through the electronic ballot box would require me to stop the election and take down the database. This is why the following message is posted right above the password field:
"NOTE BEFORE VOTING: Once you proceed to the ballot, your password will be disabled and you will not be able to access your ballot again. Be sure you want to vote now before you begin."
I am sorry but the system was set up to be secure and to protect the integrity of the election, so it does not allow for recasting ballots.

Subject: [CALIBK12] CSLA voting "heads up"
I just tried voting online in the CSLA election, and had a problem.
In the middle of marking my choices, I wanted to go back and read some candidate statements. I did that, but then couldn't get back to the ballot. So I logged out, thinking I could log in again.
Wrong...it appears the personal password that we each receive is only good one time. So be warned; finish your voting in one session.
I'm already writing to CSLA to beg forgiveness and get "reinstated."
Cheers,
Rusty
