??? But -- notice that the North Central Assoc. phrases are qualitative -- not quantitative.? That is the pattern set by WASC thirty years ago -- which other states have been migrating to. It frees them to pretend to provide library services without qualified staff.
??? They want to be at the bottom with us.

North
Central Association has similar standards for accreditation for midwestern
schools.??LIbrarians, who are referred to as Media Specialists there,
are mentioned 24 times in their accreditation standards.? An
example:
?
Media Service Criteria
HSL 82 Media services are provided by an adequate number of
appropriately prepared personnel
(See Appendix F).
HSL 83 Ongoing instruction is provided for staff and students to
ensure effective and appropriate
use of media materials.
HSL 84 The school provides access to a balanced collection of
print, non-print, and electronic
media that are of sufficient quality and quantity to support the
curriculum.
HSL 85 Sufficient resources are budgeted and spent annually to
maintain a current collection
and/or support access to media services and materials
