measures can be gathered and integrated to explain your library to its

eLearning for Librarians: An Ideas Playground
http://tinyurl.com/3pbmqy

1-hour Web Conference with Cory Laverty - $109.95

E-learning is defined as the facilitation of learning through on-line
tools and content. Many of us have created virtual library modules on
different topics such as stages in the research process, overviews of
information tools in a specific discipline, or guides on searching
individual databases. This session will explore an e-learning wiki
sponsored by the Canadian Association of Research Libraries where
librarians can share their knowledge. What learning principles
underpin good on-line library instruction? What does interactivity
look like? What are some examples of exemplary library tutorials? You
are invited to contribute your e-learning tips and discuss your
library tutorials in this wiki so we can build on our collective
experience.

Monday, June 16, 2:00 pm ET, 11:00 am PT
Pro-active Relationship Building: Reaching Out to Your Academic
Faculty Clients
http://tinyurl.com/53y924

1-hour Audio Conference with Joan Giannone - $85.00

One key advantage academic libraries maintain over most of the
competing information sources is the ability of knowledgeable staff
members to develop valuable relationships with their faculty clients.
The reference librarian is available to answer questions, provide
reading list guidance, assist in research, help locate material, and
encourage the students and faculty to keep the library and librarians
at the forefront of their research. But unless library staff members
reach out to promote or explain their value, all of this assistance
may be under utilized by, or even unknown to, faculty clients. This
audio session is designed to highlight ways in which academic
librarians can use persuasive communication strategies to solidify and
even expand their roles in today’s new higher educational environment
through strategic partnerships, collaborative relationships and
mutually beneficial alliances. These activities will update or change
their images, share their expertise, and promote their services.
