Hi all,

A lot of teachers in high schools write to me,
asking about poetry by Native writers. With that in mind...

Those of you in public, high school, and
post-secondary libraries might want to consider
subscribing to a Native literary magazine called
RED INK. It is beautiful in layout and content.
In it are poems, short stories, essays,
photographs, and graphic art by Native artists and writers.

I posted one poem from the latest issue over on
my site
(http://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.info)
yesterday (June 25). I also posted the cover from
the previous issue, which shows a traditional
dancer, in profile, with his ipod. If your
teachers do studies of popular culture art,
they'll find plenty to work with in Red Ink.

Here's the website:
http://www.redinkmagazine.com/

It comes out twice a year. Institutional
subscriptions are $35/year. Can't beat that,
especially given the richness of the publication.

Debbie
