[CALIBK12] Newbery & Caldecott labels

I put the Newbery and Caldecott labels on both the honor and the winner books. Some of my teachers have them do book reports on Newbery and Caldecott and let them choose from the honor books as well. Some of the honor books are more appropriate for elementary age, or in the opinion of the teacher, some of the honor books are better than the medal winners. One of my 5th grade teachers has the students check out three Caldecotts then come up with their own criteria and awards for a book report.

I get my labels from www.Demco.com.

My personal goal is to read all the Newbery medal winners back to the year I was born by the end of this school year. (I'll keep going til I've read them all, then maybe I will start on the honor books...) I've challenged the kids to read them too. This way I can make personal recommendations for the kids when they ask for a good book.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I am curious if you put Caldecott and Newbery Award stickers on the medal winners only or the honor books too.

(I just use these blue and red stickers from The Library Store:

41 )

I know this isn't a big issue post, but thank you in advance for satisfying my curiosity.

Jill
