Hi Jim: I'd recommend Emako Blue by Brenda Woods (personal responses to gang violence, told in a short narrative form) or Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes (high school class writes poetry; different points of view, contains the students' poetry-great read-aloud) to Kathleen. Good luck!

Subject: [CALIBK12] Need 9th Grade Read-Aloud Title
I am posting this message for my colleague from Palm Springs High School:
I have a grade nine teacher requesting a recommendation for a title that he could read aloud to his 9th gr. CP classes that will "grab their attention and keep them hooked."
Thank you.
