Hi, Christina - When you say "Cam Jansen type" books, do you mean
comparable length and difficulty? If so, then you could try either Tony
Abbott's Secrets of Droon series or Kate McMullan's Dragon Slayers
Academy series.

Slightly longer chapter books, but still great for 3rd grade would be
Bruce Covilles' Space Brat series, which is usually very popular with
boys. Or how about some of Betsy Duffey's short chapter books - Hey,
New Kid; Math Whiz; Spotlight on Cody; The Gadget War?

Quite a bit longer, and more complex vocabulary but incredibly popular
right now with all of my 3rd graders (and many 2nd and 4th graders) are
Cornelia Funke's Ghosthunters books, along with Dan Gutman's fabulous My
Weird School series.

Hope some of these ideas help you!

Subject: [CALIBK12] Cam Jansen Type Books

Hello all,

I am looking for Cam Jansen type books for a 3rd grader. He's been told
he needs to read more complex text. I thought of Hardy Boys, but I
don't have a lot of those in my library. Any suggestions? Thanks.
