Thank you all for sending me book recommendations.  It is clear this is
a subject near and dear to many of you.  I now have a lengthy list and
will start reading those that I haven't already read.

One of my PE teachers is tearing through our fantasy books with animal characters.  She has read the entire Redwall series, is now onto the Warrior series by Erin Hunter, and has read the Rats of Nimh.  Any suggestions for where I should take her next?  She is uninterested in human characters.  All-animal cast only.

You're an award winning librarian. A leader. A person with great influence.

Have you considered working with teachers and 
students on an article about this particular 
book, how teachers present it, how teachers 
present information about its 
misrepresentation//bias/errors of Tlingit people, 
how students respond to that information? You've 
told us they love it, but an article with teacher 
and student voices would be outstanding.

I'm going to make a big assumption here, that the 
teachers provide students with accurate 
information about the Tlingit people, so that 
they don't take the fiction as factual. And as 
their librarian, I'm making another big 
assumption that you provide them with the 
resources to counter the incorrect information. 
I'd like to compare sources. What do you suggest?

Hello all,
One of our 5th grade teachers came to me today to seek recommendations for a
list of summer reading.  From what I have read here there is probably
someone out there that has a complete list at their fingertips.  I would
also be interested in any single titles you may want to suggest.
I will post a list when I get it compiled.

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to encourage everyone to be mindful of when a "reply to
all" is necessary. A "reply to all" can be very useful if a dialogue is
open and many are participating, but it can also be very intimidating
and intense as well. As a recipient of a reply to all, one can feel
"called out" or attacked.  If we could just take a moment to determine
the worthiness/necessity of a "reply to all" it would be helpful and in
some instances, kind.

Just my thoughts for your consideration.
