Michael Elhsohn Ross visited Vallemar School last Spring. He was great with
the 3-5th graders. His '"-ology" books were well received, as were his
Indoor Zoo, Junk Lab and Kitchen lab science how-to books. He talked about
his writing process and showed slides (Powerpoint) of his work. He read
aloud to the students from his books. He was animated and pleasant to listen
to. Michael's wife came with him and she handled the book sales and signing.
That was a nice bonus.

For our upper grades, 6-8th, we had Brad Herzog, who has written a number of
sports biographies for Sports Illustrated, aimed at a young adult audience.
He has also written sports books for a grade 2-4 reading level, using an A.
B, C convention (*T is for Touchdown, K is for Kick*, etc.) He has a really
interesting background and knowledge of the US forged by driving around in a
motor home from tiny town to tiny town. He's written a couple of adult level
books about those experiences. Brad lives in Pacific Grove.

In the past we've had Jeff Savage, who has written many sports books and
biographies. He was a very motivational speaker, encouraging students to
always do their best.
