We just completed our first book fair at our high school last week. We
booked with Mrs. Nelson after Scholastic said they were not interested
in dealing with high schools and I polled this wonderful listserve and
responses seemed to favor Mrs. Nelson's at least at the high school
level. I had hoped to sell at least $3000 which is Mrs. Nelson's cutoff
for a higher percentage of profits for the school even though they did
guarantee the highest percentage the first year no matter what the
sales. We took in over $4400.

I take from the name of your school that you are at an elementary school
so your expected sales may be a lot higher - I think they generally are
at the elementary level. But for a high school I was absolutely
thrilled. I think that next year with more advanced planning and with
the students knowing what to expect we could do even more.

I'll attach my compilation of the responses from my earlier posting on
the listserve. Remember that I had specifically enquired about high
school fairs. I don't think you would go wrong with Mrs. Nelson's Good
luck in your decision.

While we are on the subject, we just started talking about switching
from Scholastic to Miss Nelson next year. Can anyone give me
information about how that has worked for you? Particularly if you are a
good distance away (we are in La Jolla and they are LA based, I
believe).

Thanks for your wisdom,
