[CALIBK12] Just So Stories

As I seemed to cause problems with many district filters, I am reposting this without the "n" word (as per George's request). Sorry for the double posting to some of you.

Lori

Susan,

According to the ALA publication, Banned Books by Robert Doyle, Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling was "challenged at the Hardin Park Elementary School library in Watauga County, N.C. (1990) because the word "n_____" appears in the story "How the Leopard Got Its Spots."

The book, Banned Books, is a wonderful resource. I have it behind the circ desk (it's my personal copy), but students can read it anytime they ask. It gives the author, title, place, date, and even the reason (quoted reasons too when available) for the banned/challenged book in question.

If you all want everyone on the list to get your post on this subject,
please remove the "n" word. The post is getting bounced all over the
place!
