[CALIBK12] HELP -- Military Service Records

Dear Collective Brain,
 
I have a teacher who is trying to find military service records, specifically if certain individuals have received any military honors/medals.  I can find lists of specific awards, e.g. the medal of honor, but I can't find an efficient way to look up a person to see if he/she received any award.  Any ideas?
