[CALIBK12] QUERY:Collection Development Policy Advice

Dear Colleagues,
I am in the process in revamping our wholly inadequate collection development policy. I have a nice selection of examples to steal, I mean, borrow from.

I do remember somewhere, someplace seeing a policy that was very specific in setting out criteria for reviews and review sources. Something like, "Each title shall receive a minimum of two positive reviews or recommendations from an accepted review source such as Booklist, School Library Journal or their equivalent."

That seems overly restrictive in its specificity. I wonder if any of who have a policy with such a statement, and what other's opinions are about such a statement
