Hi all,
If your district is not allowing you release time for the conference next week in Sacramento, I urge you to try to come on Saturday or Sunday (or both!). There are so many exciting things going on over the weekend. Janet Melikian has worked on an incredible line-up of concurrent sessions and I have arranged for some awesome authors to be there on the weekend including Hope Anita Smith, Barbara Kerley, Ellen Hopkins, Ying Compestine, and Erin Dealey. On Sunday Ron Koertge and Jay Asher will be on the Intellectual Freedom panel and also on Sunday there will be an Illustrator panel with M. Sarah Klise, LeUyen Pham and Matt Faulkner. I am excited about this new panel offering.

I know it is hard to choose which sessions to attend, but I would like to make one suggestion--Ann Crewdson (Saturday at 1:00). She and I were are the ALA GISK (Great Interactive Software for Kids) Committee together and she is really an expert on gaming in libraries. Of course, there are so many other sessions from which to choose!

Further, Saturday night we have the CYRM banquet with Gennifer Choldenko and on Sunday Rosemary Wells will be our speaker for the Author/Illustrator brunch. Lori Lim has lined up some wonderful authors and illustrators for each table.

See you soon, I hope.
