[CALIBK12] CLAD certification requirements?

Let me follow up George's encouragement to get the certification-- we are Teachers and as such we have to get the same certifications that are required for other credentialed staff.
Also, in my district we were told that if we did not get it, we could be bumped out of our positions. Regardless, I urge you to make the call as soon as you're back to work and get your process started. I know that they also have video programming that will lead to the certification-- there are ways to get it that will fit in your life. Don't hesitate to align yourself with the other teaching staff.
I never want to give our staff any reason to look at me differently-- I seek out every required certification so that I can relate to the classroom teachers and give my students every bit of scaffolding I can to support their academic success.

It has been said on this listserv before, but I must repeat it. If we
want to be considered teachers, we must act like them and do as they do.
The CLAD certificate or its new iteration is an important documentation
of a teacher's commitment to teaching everyone. TLs should not shy away
from getting it; we should all embrace it.

I called the Credential Commission in Sacramento last year about this
issue. That dept. told me that TLs did NOT have to carry the CLAD. Since
recently receiving another letter from LAUSD about renewing the
emergency CLAD permit, I called the credentials people at LAUSD. They
could not give me a concrete answer. Someone there said that even if the
state doesn't require it, our school district might require it anyways.
When I hear back from them with a definitive answer, I'll post it.

Calibbers,
Are California school librarians required to be CLAD certified?
What about LAUSD librarians?
Do you know in LA where to take classes for this?
