Please take a look at a new student  site developed by  professors (some
from UC) and students.  You can access it at http://www.shmoop.com .  My
inside sources say there is no plan to charge for this site.....

 

According to the App Scout article of October 31, 2008, ".....If you
really want to get into history, poetry, or classic literature but find
it just too thick or intimidating, never fear, Shmoop
<http://www.shmoop.com/>  is here. Developed by students and faculty at
some of the country's top universities, Shmoop is revolutionizing the
way readers interact with literature. The service is designed to provide
students, teachers, and everyday readers with a resource to help them
get engaged. Shmoop also aids in finding audio and video
<http://www.appscout.com/2008/10/shmoop_breathes_new_life_into_1.php>
resources, and in finding study tips and paper ideas."

 

... and from the UNC student newspaper, "Shmoop provides an in-depth
analysis of themes, characters, literary devices ... and the list goes
on.  This content is all provided by Ph.D. and masters' students, much
more than can be said for sites like Wikipedia.org. Shmoop's content is
all regulated and updated on the norm by a full-time staff.  What some
have said is the best part of Shmoop.com is that it provides multiple
perspectives on the same topic, not the stereotypical one-sided
