I know the American Cancer Society has some nice, free picture books for
children explaining cancer and treatment. You might try contacting the
organization that would be specific to the organ being transplanted
(heart, kidney... etc.) and see what they have just for this purpose.

Subject: [CALIBK12] picture book about illness or surgery
I am looking for a picture book about medical illness or surgery.
We have a faculty member going out on medical leave for an organ
transplant before Christmas and will be out on medical leave for the
rest of the school year.
She will be telling the kids (1st grade) next week, and she wants a
picture book to help explain it.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you.
