Hurray!! My goodness--was his defense at 7 a.m. this morning?! The successful completion of Doug's degree AND successful, research about California school libraries are events to celebrate. Congratulations, Doug! Dr. Doug does have a nice ring. Barbara :-)

Subject: [CALIBK12] Great news on linking CA libraries to achievementy
I would like to be the first to congratulate Dr. Douglas Achterman for defending his doctoral dissertation at the University of North Texas this morning.
His study follows in the footsteps of the Keith Lance studies linking California school library media programs to achievement, particularly at the high school level. It is a much stronger study than a similar one done a few years ago in California on the same topic. The evidence is particularly strong when a full time teacher librarian supported by a full time clerical is in place.
I know that Dr. Doug will be presenting his findings at CSLA, so you will want to attend his presentation.
Congratulations, Dr. Achterman!!!!!!!!!!!
