Wow! Congrats, Connie! I recently (last school year) moved up to hi school after 8 years at my jr. hi. Every change I've noticed so far is GREAT: the kids are more mature and polite; they already know how to use the computers/programs, so I can actually TEACH research skills instead of showing someone how to open a Word doc or save it; I'm teaching at a higher content level, so it's so much more interesting for me.
My biggest challenge: Let them make their mistakes and/or figure things out for themselves. Don't always be ready to jump in and help.
Good luck!

Subject: [CALIBK12] moving up
Hello folks!
As if life wasn't busy enough, after 20 years in junior high, I am moving up to high school! Starting this Monday I'll be the new Teacher Librarian at Petaluma HIgh School. I know the kids are taller, a bit more mature....but what words of wisdom do you folks have for me in making this transition? I'm excited and raring to go - but I'd love to hear from folks who have made the change and find out what kinds of things surprised you, and what was the biggest change [or challenge] for you?
Thanks!
Connie
