[CALIBK12] challenge to Eragon & dragons

I have a situation with a parent's objection to dragons in literature (probably magic, wizardry) and in particular to the book Eragon .   If you experienced a challenge to Eragon or to dragons, magic, or wizardy and are willing to share your experience please respond off list.  Thank you.
