Hello, Calibbers,

Things happen, but I'm sad to lose Carol Shuey as part of the dynamic
planning team for CSLA conferences. She has given so much to the
organization and her salary didn't even begin to compensate for the time she
put in. Thanks to her vision, each conference was a bit more professional
looking and polished than the one before, and she kept vendors coming back,
even in times of economic downturn.

I've worked with her on several conferences, and truly, she was marvelous,
always there to answer questions, solve problems, and provide whatever help
was needed. She stayed upbeat and cheerful, even when I knew she had to be
totally exhausted from the number of hours she put in.

So, on behalf of all of us who were privileged to work with Carol, a
heartfelt THANK YOU!

Jeanne Nelson

Subject: [CALIBK12] Clarification

Hello

I have received a number of inquiries from people who are confused about the
circumstances of my departure from CSLA as Conference & Exhibits
Coordinator, Journal Advertising Manager and Job Hotline Manager.

In May, 2008 the CSLA Board decided to close our Sacramento office and move
day-to-day operational responsibilities to a management company -
Association Resource Center (ARC) in Folsom, California. This included all
of my responsibilities (Conference & Exhibits Coordinator, Advertising
Manager, Site Selection and Job Hotline Manager). Effective July 1, 2008,
ARC assumed all of these responsibilities.

During the months of seeking the services of a management company, I was
consistently reassured that my position was NOT part of this discussion or
reorganization. This turned out not to be true. The proposal was made by the
"Leadership Committee", led by John McGinnis and Barbara Jeffus. It was not
a timeline of my choosing. Contrary to what was stated by a board member at
the board meeting, I have never talked about retiring or quitting. Working
for CSLA has been the most rewarding experience in my working career.

CSLA offered to extend my job until Dec. 31st but with a drastically changed
job description. I declined.

And so, for those years, those experiences, and your respect and friendship,
I want to say "thank-you". I enjoyed working with so many of you and I take
away only good memories of our work together. I hope our paths cross again
(all my contact information remains the same and stays with me).
