[CALIBK12] copyright and ethics question

Hello All,

My daughter came home from school today with a "burned" DVD copy of the R rated "The Patriot" - the Mel Gibson movie. My daughter is 15. Twenty copies were distributed by the History teacher to students with the instructions to watch at home and write a report. 
As a parent I'm angry at the teacher for giving my daughter an R rated movie. As a librarian I'm angry at the copyright infringement.

 Before I make calls to the teacher and administration I'd like your thoughts and comments.
