Speaking of CSLA, I hope you are a member. If not, now is the time to  
join. There is the outstanding annual conference (in Sacramento this  
year) and you will be able to attend the CSLA Southern Section  
Workshops. Visit the calendar at the CSLA Web site to see the  
wonderful events planned for Southern Section members in 2008-2009.

Finally, if you can spare the time, get yourself on the substitute  
list at the district(s) where you would like to work. You will need to  
pass the CBEST. I know many teachers at my competitive district who  
were hired because they had been successful subs. It's the networking  
thing...
