Brenda,

As I understand it, my district didn't allow high school students to
receive their class schedule this year until their books and/or fines
had been cleared.
It apparently worked very well.

Dear Colleagues:

Our district is struggling with a huge number of textbooks not being
returned each year. We send notices to students and letters to
parents, call home, call students into the library asking them to
return the missing books.

With the budget crisis, this has become a real issue for us. Our
district leaders have scheduled meeting to try to find a solution for
this problem. How are other districts handling this problem? Do any
of you use a collection agency?

You may respond to me off the list serve if you desire.

Thank you for any help and suggestions you may give.
