Please forward this message to any church librarian (or church school
librarians) or helper you know in the Southern California region, or to
anyone interested in starting up a church library. Thank you!
If you are involved with a church library or would like to start one, please
contact us for opportunities to join in fellowship with other Christian
librarians and their assistants. Our group is under the national authority
of ECLA (Evangelical Church Library Association
http://www.eclalibraries.org/) but at the local level we are
nondenominational as to our membership requirements. We have members
representing Baptist, Presbyterian, Friends churches, Calvary Chapel(s),
local community/independent churches, etc. as well as EV Free churches. Our
members travel from as far as Santa Clarita to attend - most times we meet
centrally in the area from Biola to northern O.C.
Our fall meeting will be in Riverside County, so if you are out that way,
make a special effort to join us! (If you are in L.A. or Orange County,
email me for a possible car-pool ride).
What we do: Meet twice a year at various churches. Share ideas and practical
solutions, successful programs or promotions, and share prayer needs (and
answers!). Provide fellowship and encouragement to one another. At most
meetings we tour the on-site church library (some are also part of the
church school libraries). We frequently have a speaker (Christian author)
and on occasion, meet for a field trip or hold a "mini-conference" with
workshop sessions. We are tentatively planning an authors' brunch, possibly
for spring 2009. Visitors are welcome to "try us out" before joining. Dues
are $5 per year.
If you are interested in visiting a meeting or have any questions, please
reply directly to me for any information you need: shatz at verizon.net
