[CALIBK12] Need Professional Day Program Ideas

What about panel topics such as the following?
-Book trailers: how to link the library's web page to
the online video book trailers for books in the
library's collection. Some day, will students using
the OPAC be able to link to and watch book trailers
for a substantial number of books in the school
library collection? Is this already starting to
happen or in the works? Some public library websites
already have the capability to allow remote patrons to
listen to a snippet of downloadable recorded ebooks.
Will search stations be equipped with self-sanitizing
headsets so the sound of the trailers doesn't
interrupt other library patrons? Is this already
happening?
-Creating a wish list with amazon.com or another
provider, complete with ISBNs for library bound
editions of books people can purchase and gift to your
school library. What would be the logistics of
getting the books delivered to your school? Would
there be a possible chilling effect on book purchases,
with the community able to view the list and challenge
books before they are even purchased, or is this a
non-issue? Who should be able to add books to the
wish list: Only the librarian/tech? Should
teachers, students and parents, administrators and
support staff have the option to make wish list
selections that don't go live until approved by the
librarian/tech?
-Live Action Role Playing (LARPing) and Role Playing
Games (RPGs): Many LARPers and paper and pen Role
Playing Gamers read huge stacks of history books and
biographies to prepare for weekly roleplaying games
set in historical settings and alternate histories.
Would students enjoy writing and enacting their own
history-based LARPs, either as part of a club or in
their history classes? What materials should a school
library have to encourage this type of activity? A
few of the most popular or classic RPG manuals? Books
directed at teenagers explaining how to write RPGs?
Age appropriate books or magazines reviewing online
and commercially available RPG video games and RPG
books, or links to such reviewing sites from the
library's web page? And is it true that in some
gang-ridden communities, rival gangs each have their
own favorite RPG? If so, how does one find out which
RPGs have this notoriety? What are some good print or
online sources, even teen blogs, showing which RPGs
are most popular with today's teenagers? And are
there any sources rating or reviewing them in light of
age-appropriate content?
-What websites list movies or TV shows inspired by
books in school library collections? Using movie
posters to inspire students to read those books. Is
there a danger of students watching the movie and
passing the Accelerated Reader, Reading Counts or
other reading test without having read the book?
Would teachers or after school clubs want to engage
students in discussions of (or papers on the topic of)
how true the movie (and the remake of the movie in
some cases!) is to the book?
Would there be any interest in holding such a
professional day program in July, when school is not
in session for most schools?
