My point is simple: You need to be aware of your community and decide if the battle may be worth fighting. As a wise instructor once told me, (and I am reaching into my old memory cells) do the sex scenes add to the literary quality. I am very conservative, but don't automatically ignore titles just because someone tells me I must. I read the Pullman Dark Materials Trilogy just to see what I needed to know in order to make an informed decision. I highly recommend it, but often add a comment if needed for certain patrons. In my area, and with my administration, any graphic nudity would be a red flag. I won't fight that battle unless there is remarkable literary merit. Know your people and you will do pretty well.
