One of my teachers is looking for ideas to get her students to do independent reading of the books they check out. We have discussed reading logs and response or reflective journals. I suggested having students slightly fracture or alter some of the selections they read (like fractured fairy tales). Are there other ideas or resources to help us get the kids to read and not just ignore the books they check out? Thanks in advance.
