CSLA members and friends,

How can we maximize our "visual presence for the press" at the rally next Wednesday, April 15, on the Capitol steps? Should we make signs in support of school library professionals and paraprofessionals. Or, should we all wear the same color clothing? Any ideas?

If you want to be inspired to attend the rally, watch the video of Delaine Eastin that Richard Moore sent us:

"Former State Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin Endorses Tom Torlakson for SPI???

Let's show the legislators what we think of the cuts to education!

Hello everyone!

On Wednesday April 15th CSLA and CLA and CLTAC will hold our annual
Legislative Day in Sacramento. We usually meet in the convention
center for a briefing and then head out to our respective legislator
meetings. This year, however, in celebration of National Library Week
[NLW] we will hold a press conference and rally on the Capitol steps
following the briefing. Senator Wolk will read a proclamation
announcing NLW and then we will have a press conference. CLA president
Barbara Roberts and I will answer questions from the press about
public and school libraries. We NEED YOU to be there to be a visual
presence for the press, the legislators and our communities.

We've always wanted to "march on the capitol" and now we have the
opportunity to do so to highlight the positive impact that the library
team has on student achievement and creating lifelong learners.

We can't make a lasting impact without YOU being there. Bring your
friends, parents, students, but most importantly, bring yourself. Wear
library shirts and your favorite library buttons.

Details about the caucus, times, locations and how to sign us to
attend meetings with legislators are available at: www.csla.net. The
website has been updated and contains ALL the information you need.

See you there!

Connie
