Dear Calibers,

April is flying by. Two important “to do’s” before the month is over
are:

1. Mark your calendar for California School Library Association's 2008
Annual Conference November 19-22 in Ontario, California. The theme
this year is "Embrace the Serendipity of Learning.” You won’t want to
miss it!

2. Consider submitting a proposal for a concurrent session.

CSLA is looking for professionals, paraprofessionals, exhibitors, and
other friends of school libraries (members and non-members) who are
interested in sharing their knowledge during our 60-minute concurrent
sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 20-22. We are
interested in presenters on a wide variety of topics, such as
integrating technology in the curriculum, information literacy,
reading strategies, author talks, standards implementation, collection
development, book talking, storytelling, collection organization,
collaborating with classroom teachers, intellectual freedom, library
management, web 2.0 tools, career management, personal learning
networks, book clubs, motivational programs, and much more.

To submit a proposal, start at the CLSA home page (http://
www.csla.net), then click on the link to the Call for Proposal
instructions. Or, go directly to the proposal page at http://csla.aaiden.com
. Please submit your proposal(s) by Tuesday, April 28. Once you do,
you will receive an email confirmation with a log-in that will allow
you to return to your submission to review, edit, and print it. We
will notify you of your submission status by May 31.

If you have any questions about your proposal ideas, contact
Concurrent Sessions Chairs Joan Kramer (joan.kramer at lausd.net) or
Ellen Whelpton (whlptn at aol.com). If you have questions about
submitting your proposal online, contact Conference Coordinator
Carolyn Tienken (carolynt at csla.net).

We look forward to receiving your great session proposals!
