Please do look at the information available on the CSLA Web site at http://www.csla.net/ . The document Katherine mentions is one of many offered as helpful resources. And the WIKI is a great place to share where notices are going out and what you are doing to keep the libraries open--even better than calibk12 because all of the strategies contributed will be available in one place. I am again on the 'chopping block' and facing the board again tonight, as I was last year. Try googling "School Libraries Work" (http://www2.scholastic.com/content/collateral_resources/pdf/s/slw3_2008.pdf. I think the latest edition might be '08. I downloaded and studied the document last year and had enough to hand out to board members. Tonight I will do the same. We have a much larger cut in our small district this year so I am sure to be cut, but it may help.
Good luck to all of you out there in the same boat. They are cutting both LMT's in our district, cutting our district librarian, and taking hours from the rest of the classified tech's. It's a sad day for everyone.

"I really didn't realize the librarians were, you know, such a dangerous group. You think they're just sitting there at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them. "
