I'm in the process of trying to do this as well.

Localender.com has a free calendar and the capabilities to embed it on your website.  You can get a basic one, and also pay for some upgrades.  Although eaxsy to set up, I"ve been running into problems and can't get it to load properly. (although I know other librarians who have it on thier site). 
You just need to create an account, and you can start making your calendar.
 I've read the Discussion boards and some people run into problems once they put all of the events on the calendar, but when it loads they can't "see" their events.  You are supposed to make sure you mark all of your events as "public" (which I do), but again, there is some sort of glitch, and I don't know if it's on my end or what.  So that's one idea that may work for you.

I'm now attempting the calendar through Google.  It is very similar to set up (create username and password) and then they give you a link to put on your site.

Hello!
I know that this has come up before and I must have missed it - but if you use an online calendar for scheduling classes in the library, what do you use? 
Pros/ cons of it would be helpful too.   Thanks!
