In response to AB 307, SAUSD is celebrating CyberSafety Week this week.
Our teacher librarians are the go-to people at their school sites for
this week - another good way to increase visibility and viability. Our
County Office also hosted a videoconference on this topic last week. You
can see Santa Ana USD materials and activities at
www.sausd.us/cybersafetyweek.

In addition, some districts were selected in California to be part of
additional required training for e-Rate funds. The U.S. Department of
Justice selected 10 districts in the state to offer instruction to
students regarding online behavior, including social networking, chat
rooms, cyber bullying, and for students 10-17, sexual solicitation.
Eventually, I believe that will be required throughout the state (and
elsewhere).

In my district, six teacher librarians were selected to be trainer of
trainers for the program.

Hello Deb,

It is required to be taught as part of your district's technology use
plan. Your CTAP folks at the Stanislaus COE can give you lots more
details about those requirements. Cyber safety and copyright law are now
required to be in the plans and to be taught as well.

Wasn't there an Assembly Bill that was passed that required schools to
teach information literacy. My memory is sketchy on this. Can the
wonderful collective mind help me?

Thanks
