Subject: [CALIBK12] Short stories or poems for historical periods

Our 9th grade English and World History teachers are collaborating on a
literature unit covering different historical periods.
Do you know of some good short stories or poems that have to do with the
following time periods? I've tried Googling and using literature
databases but it's taking quite a bit of time. Would appreciate any
recommendations in titles or recommendations in ways to locate short
stories or poems (no novels).

Great Depression
Totalitarianism (1930s)
World War II
Holocaust
Japanese-American internment
Cold War (Cuban Missile Crisis, Berlin Wall)
Vietnam War

Thanks,
Aileen Willoughby
