[CALIBK12] CYRM Bookmarks?

Years ago I had a bookmark contest for the upper grade levels. I gave the
participating kids a blank bookmark (draw a border in about 1/8" so kids
don't draw over the edge and you'll have a cutting guide)- about 5 per legal
size sheet) and instructions to make a bookmark first in pencil then go over
the finished picture with fine tip black line marker (no color), then erase
pencil marking. They could also use conversation bubbles or add captions,
and they write their names & room # at the bottom end. They could not copy
any picture from the book. I selected the top ones and taped them side by
side on a sheet of legal sized paper, made a master copy, then made plenty
of copies to distribute at the library. This kept the copy cost to a minimum
(black and white). The students could then color them if they wanted to. You
can bring the bookmarks out the next fall for the kids to promote the books
again while they wait their turn for the current nominees. You could also
return the originals to the winners for coloring and then collect and
display them on a poster as the winners.

They are only in the Primary category which is drawn by kids. You can find
it in the resource handbook.

Why not have your kids make them? It could be a contest so that the school
votes on the best for each category OR it could be a swap thing. Kids make
bookmarkers and they trade with everyone else. OR you could collect them
all, then randomly give one away when they check out books. It would surely
generate interest in the award as well.

I thought I had seen CYRM bookmarks by category that one could download and
make copies of. I thought there was one for each category with the nominees
and pictures of the book covers. I went to the CYRM site and it was not
there. Has anyone seen such a thing and could share where they got this?
Or maybe someone is very creative and they have made these bookmarks and
would be willing to share for the glory of knowing their creation was used
by students around the state?
