Victoria: Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful article on the Newbery. It was deeply moving, and renewed my faith in the award process. As a high school librarian, I don't have many Newberys on my shelf, and the Michael Printz Award and others for YA just aren't the same...I miss The Giver and Despereaux! Maybe I'll buy a few just for fun...

I am one of these Luddites who likes to read a bit of the "LA Times" at breakfast each morning. I also check the opinion section and enjoyed these articles from Sunday and today. I thought you might as well.
