Of course they have, Helen. I don't have any specific examples but I'm sure
members of CSLA have been recognized in this way and I certainly expect
someone will be able to give examples.
One of the reasons we lobbied to have the word teacher as part of our title
is exactly for situations like this.
I've heard this argument before but schools nominate folks to be recognized
as teacher of the year and certainly in Marin County we've had teacher
librarians nominated by their schools and districts. As a matter of fact
when one of our TLs asked our county supt. whether we could have separate
recognitions for TLs she pointed out that they can be nominated just as CTs
are.
I would say this--that if TLs aren't eligible then a separate award SHOULD
be given to the TL of the year!
Good luck in your pursuit of this honor. Don't give up--take it to the
county level and make sure find out the facts before throwing in the towel.

Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day,
something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else
would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of
unanimity.
